Chad, Beverly, and the kids at home on Thanksgiving Day

 Who is Beverly?

Beverly is a wife and mom, a former teacher and principal, a questioner, a learner, and a writer.  She lives with her husband Chad and their three kids in beautiful Arkansas.  Beverly works outside the home part-time mentoring new teachers and spends the rest of her time, reading, writing, and watching Netflix.

Let’s get to know each other!

I like to think I’m a simple girl, but in reality we’re all pretty complex on the inside.  I love rainy days, and the smell of books, and beginnings.  I like staying home in comfy clothes and having meaningful conversations.  I want to be low maintenance, but I’m not real sure I am.

I’m the oldest of four girls, wife to my high school sweetheart, and mother to three beautiful kids. Nothing in my life is perfect, but so many things in my life are good.  I’m committed to being honest with you even when it’s uncomfortable, and I hope you’ll find encouragement in that.  I’m a good listener, a good friend, and a certified hot mess.

In the previous chapter of my life, it was all about my career and achievements.  That got really unhealthy, so I walked away. I left my full time work in education (first as a high school teacher, then as an elementary principal) after eleven years for the sake of my family and my sanity.  After a lifetime of achieving and succeeding and proving my worth by doing all the things, I was left with no way of knowing whether I was good enough.  And so, good enough had to finally come from the right places: from my recognition of God’s view of me and from a healthier relationship both with him and with myself. Now here I am, finding a new “me” in this season, figuring out who I am in all over again in middle adulthood.

That transition was HARD, and I won’t pretend like it wasn’t.  It was perspective altering, financially challenging, identity shaking, and lots of other things, too.  But it was so, so worth it.  Life on this side of that big choice is so much richer, so much more fulfilling, and so much more peaceful. It’s life-giving.

A snapshot from our Fall 2019 trip to the beautiful Smoky Mountains. I'm not literally hugging a tree, but I'm pretty dang close. Being outside is definitely live-giving for me, and we all had a great time hiking, snow tubing, and doing lots of other fun stuff!

Why should you stick around? What's in it for you?

My hope for you is that you will commit to finding renewal and peace “in the daily grind.”  You don’t have to quit your job or make an Instagram-worthy pilgrimage to another continent to reclaim ownership of your life.  In fact, I think it’s much more challenging AND more important to create a life-giving existence right smack in the middle of what you’re living NOW. There are so many things we do constantly and habitually that affect the quality of the lives we live. I want to support you in making the daily choices that will help you cultivate a life you enjoy, not just survive.  I want to walk with you in nurturing a mindset that supports a life-giving existence.

If I’ve spoken to the longing of your own heart and this sounds like the place for you,  leave your name and e-mail in the form below to get started with a list of 5 things you can do RIGHT NOW to start living a more peaceful life. After you’ve signed up, please hit “reply” on that welcome e-mail to tell me more about who you are and what matters to you! I’d love to get to know you better!  Thanks for being here and choosing to spend some time with me.
